ABOUT ME





JOHNNY M. PECAYO, who obtained an MBA degree from Ateneo de Manila Graduate School of Business in 1982, under full scholarship by San Miguel Corporation, has a wealth of well-rounded work experiences in Administrative Work, Editorial and Writing, Marketing, Sales, Public Relations, Employee Relations, Healthcare, Human Resources, Entrepreneurship, Diplomatic functions at the Department of Foreign Affairs in the 60's and 70's, and the Management functions at San Miguel Corporation for 20 years, from 1970 to 1990, in the whole gamut of Planning, Leading, Organizing and Controlling -- major functions that every manager at all levels of any organization must learn and pursue to attain productivity and create a team of well-motivated employees.

Prior to joining the Office of then Foreign Affairs Secretary Carlos P. Romulo, then the late Foreign Secretary Narciso Ramos, Pecayo was on the staff of the South East Treaty Organization, headed by Lt. Gen. Jesus M. Vargas, headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand, with a local office at the DFA Building on Padre Faura, headed by Max J. Edralin, Jr. as SEATO Information-Liaison Officer in the Philippines. Before that, Pecayo worked for the ITT-Bureau of Telecommunications' Office in Karuhatan, Valenzuela, Bulacan, fresh from graduation in high school at the Laguna Institute in Calamba City, Laguna, Philippines in 1963.

It was in San Miguel Corporation where Johnny Pecayo honed his inter- and intra-personal relations and learned the many rudiments of Management functions when he occupied various managerial positions in succession while at the same time, manager and concurrently editor-in-chief of the Company's publications as follows: Employee Relations Manager and Editor-in-Chief (EIC), BMD Newsletter; BMD Marketing Management Digest; Bunga ng Pinagsamahan San Miguel Beer Dealer Magazine; and contributing editor, KAUNLARAN Magazine and SMC News; Communications and Information Manager and EIC of the afore-mentioned publications; Manager, Building and Property Administration and EIC; Public Relations Officer and Administrative Manager and EIC.

On top of all these functions, he was also in-charge of Corporate Identity Program, nationwide; Purchasing Manager for SMC Sales Force's uniforms; Award of Excellence Incentive Program and pertinent functions attendant to it, like purchasing of rings, obtaining U.S. Visa, trip to Hong Kong, to Bangkok, Singapore, Vietnam and other countries, including the United States.

As an organization man with impeccable dedication and positive work attitude, armed with a special talent in writing and editing, he was likewise performing the functions of editor-in-chief of the following, simultaneously with his numerous functions at San Miguel Corporation: Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Ateneo de Manila Graduate School of Business' AMC Newsletter; Editor, PMAP (Personnel Management Association of the Philippines) Newsletter; Editor-in-Chief, Communicate, official publication of the Philippine Council of Industrial Communicators, during Pecayo's term as PCIC President for two years,1984-1986; Editor, Buhay Barangay Newsletter in Paranaque City; and Editor-in-Chief, TASSCOR Newsletter.

Education. Aside from an MBA degree, Pecayo also obtained the following: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Business Management and minor in Marketing from Feati University; Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (undergrad), University of the Philippines; Radio Telephone Operations Course; and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (undergrad), also from Feati University.

Present Occupation: Johnny M. Pecayo is the Chairman-Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, MANILA-U.S. TIMES, which has been in circulation in Southern California and Las Vegas, Nevada for over 15 years. He is the Executive Producer of MUST's flagship project, the annual Eagle Award of Excellence.

He is the President and CEO of Jade Management Pacific Ventures, a media buyer company, public relations, marketing and management consultancy firm.

He is the Chairman of the Philippine American Resources for Institution, Shelter and Nutrition (PARISAN); and President and Executive Director, Philippine American Eagle Foundation.

Just last May 2007, Pecayo completed the Real Estate and Mortgage Courses, conducted by Prime Finance & Realty, a brokerage firm in operation for over 28 years, headed by CEO Art Samontina.
